Orthoimagery is the professional quality "base map" used by all kinds of state and local agencies' analysts and applications. It is critical in our ability to derive other information. The detail and richness of the information captured on a registered image supports many business uses and users at the state, tribal and local governmental levels.

The OCIO’s Geospatial Program Office has coordinated acquisitions of up-to-date orthorimagery since 2006 in cooperation with stakeholders from the geospatial community.

The state’s broad responsibilities and resource constraints require a lean, agency-specific approach to open data planning. The CIO’s policy on open data requires each agency to develop and adopt its own open data plan and to keep it updated at least annually. Over time this will support agency efforts within existing resources.
