WaTech welcomes two new senior IT policy & management consultants to the OCIO team

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is excited to announce two new senior IT policy & management consultants who joined the office on Sept. 1: Puneet Agrawal and David Sorrell.

Puneet has worked in the private sector for over 20 years with diverse experience in project management, delivery management and leadership. His career includes working with large IT companies including Perspecta, the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company (HPE) and others with successful implementations in government and the private sector. He also has several years of technical experience in software design, data migration, database design and development. Puneet’s goal with the OCIO is to share his experience with projects of different sizes and complexity with agency partners to improve project outcomes.

Puneet is a PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Scrum Master (CSM). He holds a Master of Science degree in project management from the University of Management and Technology and a Bachelor of Technology from the Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra University in India.

After immigrating from India in the early 2000s, Puneet moved coast-to-coast for statewide project implementations. He now lives in the Olympia region with his wife and two daughters. In his free time, Puneet loves to spend time in the yard, garden and garage and riding his bike. His favorite movies include Terminator and Judgement Day and he is currently binge-watching 4400.

David has over 25 years of experience in information technology and has worked in both the public and private sectors. He has served as the Chief Information Officer and Assistant Director of the Information Services Division for the Department of Revenue since 2012. Prior to joining Revenue, David worked for the Department of Information Services where he served as the project manager for streamlining the AMBER Alert process for Washington State and the project manager for the Enterprise Business Portal Initiative.

David has also worked in the private industry as a consultant for Fujitsu Consulting. As a consultant, he had the opportunity to lead and work on large-scale technology strategy and delivery initiatives for multiple companies including Boeing, Microsoft, Energy Northwest, Washington Mutual, and Peugeot.

David is a PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP), holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Evergreen State College, and achieved professional certifications in Project Management and E-Commerce from the University of Washington.

David looks forward to getting to know the OCIO and WaTech team and quickly find opportunities to contribute.

David is married and has two children. He enjoys fitness, is an active private pilot and has a passion for golf. He recently finished reading The Things We Cannot Say by Kelly Rimmer. One of David’s favorite quotes is “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”

Please join me in welcoming Puneet and David. As OCIO IT policy and oversight consultants, they will make an important impact on our services to agencies and have a positive effect on state agency IT projects.
