Open Data Advisory - 2019 Meeting #1

Admin, technology, introductions (10 mins)

Scope, objectives and methods (10 mins)

Group Discussion (40 mins)

1.) We are coming up on the end of the contract this summer, and as I’ve mentioned before, due to the age of the contract we will re-compete the procurement. What requirements and nice-to-haves do we as a community of agencies want to see in the service platform?

2.) Improving management of the open data collection. Feedback from stakeholder interviews suggests that the best way to improve and grow the open data service is to improve management of the open data collection on (and elsewhere). I want to propose a joint management arrangement with the State Library to retire old and useless data, do better on metadata, and focus better on the data that the public most wants and needs.

3.) Sharing/merging Data standards with GIS. Currently the OCIO has one standard for geospatial metadata and another for open data. Can these be merged into one for better governance?
